Communing with Viruses, Bacteria and Parasites

Part 1

Note: These writings are part of a larger manuscript I worked on on over a series of years (1999–2010) with the exception of the final entry this year, a specific meditation with the CoronaVirus. My focus was to listen to the spirit of the earth, Gaia, through the lens of the 120 single flower essences I had created. A number of essences specifically addressed our imbalanced relationship with parasites, bacteria, and particularly viruses. Given the global panic about the coronavirus, I looked up my previous notes (which I was too shy about publishing then) to see if there was anything relevant to our current situation. I share my intuitive insights with great humility, fully aware that they are not supported by scientific information and do not give the complete picture. My hope is that these insights may assist us to open to a different perspective, and possibly a more harmonious relationship with these ‘beings’.

This story is demanding our attention as it mirrors global power issues. We are witnessing the unfolding of an ancient myth as the tiniest elements take on mighty giants.

The Role of Virus, Bacteria and Parasites

In this time of ecological stress, is important to restore a proper relationship with all of Nature’s kingdoms, including bacteria, parasites, and the microscopic viruses present in every ecosystem on the planet. Viruses play an essential role in maintaining biological integrity in ways we can scarcely comprehend. Most of our response/reaction to viruses have been based upon fear of the illness they cause in plants, animals, and our own bodies, however, their role as creative change-agents has not been adequately explored. Adopting an adversarial approach to viruses based on fear and ignorance of their creative role does not serve us, particularly when every living system on the planet is increasingly stressed and vulnerable.

Viruses are highly tuned and responsive to human energy and the way they function is similar to musical frequencies. Think about a musical composition; if there is no dissonance, the music is bland, predictable, and ultimately unsatisfying. The constantly shifting interplay between dissonance and consonance in any piece of music engages us emotionally and rhythmically through our body-souls.

Within the web of creation, viruses provide a vast range of dissonant frequencies. These can be easily aggravated into a chaotic frenzy when a system is distressed, particularly when exposed to intense emotions. They can also relax quickly, settling into a more calm, coherent state when human emotions are tranquil and grounded. If we address this realm with an etiquette of respect and cooperation, we begin to participate with a highly volatile element of Nature, one that is a very sensitive and high-frequency catalyst within the web of Life. Working with intuitive listening and sound in a homeopathic fashion has a tremendous influence on specific viruses. The more we learn how to tune-in and develop a line of resonance with these mercurial change-agents, we are able to have mastery with our health and well-being on the cellular level.

Viruses are radical, brilliant and hyper-inventive. They are supremely adaptive and resilient. They work through subterfuge with agendas that evolve and multiply exponentially, like fractals, proliferating effectively and efficiently with an operative that people can scarcely comprehend. In this respect, terrorists function like low-frequency viruses, though this association does not sufficiently credit the operational intelligence of the viral kingdom.

What is their role in earth evolution?

They are way-finders, venturing out, scouting possibilities, testing, researching and experimenting. They are rapid communicators throughout the entire fabric of life. If you could actually see them operate, they are like sensitive antennae, reacting when there is even the slightest original impulse with a kind of ‘firing’ in their intelligence. They connect with, link-into, and ‘earth’ the raw impulse, whether it is constructive or destructive (in our human perception.) They are highly tuned to our emotional realms, not just human emotions but the felt-sense of creatures and plants as well.

Let me give you a working hypothesis, an imaginary sampling…

A shock wave goes around the globe – a natural disaster in some part of the world, a political crisis, or an atrocity that sets off a wave of emotions with a variety of responses and counter-actions. Almost instantly, this triggers a ‘neural’ alertness in the viral kingdom (which is far vaster, more complex and sophisticated than we have appreciated until now.) This viral response begins to instantly scout the field; distance is not a factor. The situation may have occurred in India but the viral response could be world-wide. The viruses begin immediately seeking possibilities, through their heightened responsiveness within the entire life matrix on the planet. That is their role–to be on the leading edge of evolutionary change. Trembling and vibrating, they begin networking within their local matrix with elements that are affected by the specific nature of the seismic shift that has occurred. To illustrate how highly sensitive the viruses are, an adjustment/response begins even before, during, and immediately after the event.

Other earth elements, sensitively tuned to the viral stimulus, begin to respond and align themselves through a process of somewhat slower discernment, gradually adapting and responding to the rainbow of information presented through the viruses. Each element, like a tree, a whale, a star-fish or the air, begins to discern what resources it rightly has to respond from within its own living matrix. This is not just a defensive reaction but a coordination with its own inner directive. Each creature or earth-element begins to evolve in harmony with its larger environment. Given certain situations, dying off is sometimes a wise choice; other times an abundant over-production of pollen, seeds or members in a herd may serve the evolving ‘process.’

When viruses arise within the natural world, there is no ‘break’ in the matrix; the living codes of interconnectedness between plants, creatures, weather, etc., allow for a pliably resilient response as ecosystems gradually adapt and evolve. Naturally, the cog in the wheel is the frozen, fearful, and separated state of human consciousness. We have lost touch with this remarkable viral intelligence.

Here is a different possibility…

When a ‘crisis’ strikes, get still, drop deep inside and tune into the viral realm. Intention alone will assist you in making this connection. You may see a play of fine light fibers, shifting rapidly.  Listen in the stillness. You may hear an extremely high ‘orchestra’ of sounds; it can sound almost chaotic because the frequencies shift so quickly. Within your body, you may feel anxiety or a heightened restlessness. In the outer world, rapid shifts in wind or weather can be a sign of increased viral activity. I’ve experienced them at times almost like a murmuration of starlings.

Be still and open all your senses to the form and frequency of this intelligence. Gently, set aside the tendency to label the viruses as a cause of disease or something to be feared. Simply allow yourself to be with the viral kingdom, with respect and a desire to listen and learn. In this way, you are resonating harmoniously with them.

By suspending your emotional reaction (no little thing!) you are opening to another realm of operative intelligence. Take care not to expect immediate understanding or insights; the viruses are the ones doing the scouting and the research! They are networking with all the ‘participants’, including human beings, who are implicated in this particular event.

In this way, your presence designates you as a co-conspirator, a creative participant in the process. That alone is invaluable. Presence, rooted in stillness, is of tremendous value in the ‘shaping’ of the outcome, whereas fearful or aggressive reactions tend to warp the creative process.

Viruses are not enemies. They are allies. If we come to understand and relate to them as such, with their enormous range of information, connectivity and resourcefulness, we would have a very different experience than what we are facing now.  Even with our most sophisticated technology, we have scarcely begun to appreciate their role.

All of life on earth is ‘governed’ in some ways by their adaptive intelligence. Our challenge and invitation is to employ our exquisitely designed capacities of intuition, felt-sense, imagination to cultivate our innate kinship with all life. As we do this, not just in times of crisis but in times of grace, we will develop the etiquette for how to interact with these realms. How can we expect viruses to behave in a ‘balanced’ way when we fear and fight them with crude tools and limited understandings.

Can you imagine befriending a virus? I’d suggest we don’t wait until it has moved in and taken hold as illness and disease to come to know and appreciate this realm.
